BNP advises PM to visit China, India on Rohingya issue

DHAKA: BNP has advised Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to visit China and India, which two courtiers are most important partners of Bangladesh and Myanmar, and other influential countries to resolve the Rohingya crisis.

The party’s secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir gave the advice on Sunday (September 10) in the wake of Rohingya genocide in Rakhine state of Myanmar and the resulting influx of Rohingyas into Bangladesh.  

The BNP spokesperson was speaking at a discussion meeting as the chief guest at the Institution of Engineers’ Bangladesh (IEB) in the capital city.  

Jatiyatabadi Mahila Dal, the woman body of the BNP, arranged the discussion marking the 39th founding anniversary of the BNP. President of the body Afroza Abbas presided over the function.

Mirza Fakhrul said the Rohingyas have to send back to Myanmar through diplomatic efforts. An effective diplomatic initiative has to be launched to internationalize the crimes Myanmar is committing in Rakhine, he said.

He said that Bangladesh should convince China and India, which two countries are now supporting Myanmar government, on the Rohingya issue.

The BNP leader recalled the role of late President Ziaur Rahman in resolving Rohinga crisis.
