2 BNP men killed over land dispute in Munshiganj

MUNSHIGANJ: Two local leaders of BNP were killed by their rivals in a clash over land in Tongibari area of Munshiganj.

The deceased were identified as—Md. Ali Khan, 50, BNP president for Betka union ward-9, and Shah Alam, 50, former BNP president for the same unit.

Local sources said that a meeting was holding over the land dispute in Kandapara area of Betka union at around 08:30pm Saturday (September 9).

At one stage, rival groups carried out attack in the meeting, leaving Shah Alam spot-dead and Ali injured.

Ali was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where he succumbed to his injuries early Sunday (September 10).  

Tongibari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Eardous Hasan told Banglanews that deceased Shah Alam’s wife filed a case over the incident, at the night.

Three people were detained in connection with the murders, he added.
