‘NBR, Bangladesh Bank being used to change verdict’

DHAKA: BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed on Saturday (August 26) alleged that the government is messing up the situation following the verdict on 16th constitutional amendment.

He criticized the government and the ruling party men for forming human chains and holding other programs demanding resignation of the Chief Justice. The ministers are delivering derogatory statements against the Chief Justice through holding press briefing, he alleged.

The BNP leader was speaking at a relief distribution program among the flood-hit people at Muglapasaha union in Kurigram sadar.

Rizvi Ahmed said that the government is now using the National Board of Revenue (NBR) and the Bangladesh Bank to weaken the Chief Justice in a bid to change the verdict. “We believe that Chief Justice SK Sinha will rigid on his stance even after repeated pressure,” he said.

BNP’s joint secretary general Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal also attended the relief distribution program, among others.
