DHAKA UNIVERSITY: The Ganajagaran Mancha spokesperson Imran H Sarker has come under attack by the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL), the student wing of the ruling Awami League, at Shahbagh in the city.   

The incident took place in front of the National Museum at about 6:30 pm on Thursday (August 17).  

Imran H Sarker along with several other activists of the Ganajagaran Mancha was collecting relief for the flood affected people in front of the National Museum.

Eyewitnesses said that two groups of the Chhatra League attacked Imran H Sarker and the Ganajagaran Mancha activists suddenly. General Secretary of BCL’s Ziaur Rahman Hall unit Abdullah Al Masud Limon led the groups.

Several other activists of the Ganajagaran Mancha were also injured in the attack.

Imran H Sarker alleged that the miscreants attacked him suddenly. He and four others were injured in the incident. He said that a case will be filed with Shahbagh police station in the connection.

However, Abdullah Al Masud Limon denied his involvement in the attack.  

Earlier on July 16, a group of the BCL men attacked the car of Imran H Sarker in Dhaka court area when he was leaving the court after attending the hearing of a case filed against him. The BCL men had thrown rotten eggs at him.

Imran H Sarker had made comments against Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina over removal of the Lady Justice statue from the Supreme Court premises.
