Govt to deal amendment verdict in legal procedures

DHAKA: Law Minister Anisul Huq has said that they (government) will deal with the Supreme Court’s verdict on 16th constitutional amendment through legal procedures.

The minister made the comment while talking to the local journalists after joining a rally at Akhaura in Brahmanbaria on Tuesday (August 15).

Akhaura upazila unit of ruling Awami League organized the rally at its office marking the National Mourning Day. The upazila Awami League president Principal Joynal Abedin chaired the function, while municipality mayor Takzil Khalifa Kazal also spoke it, among others.

Anisul Huq said, “We should be cautious while commenting on constitutional posts like the president, the prime minister, the speaker or the chief justice. The posts are of great importance. So, it won’t be right to deliver comment on the posts carelessly.”

His comments came following the ruling party leaders’ statement criticizing the chief justice and the apex court’s verdict.

Earlier on Sunday (August 13), the law minister commented that the history was distorted through the 16th constitutional amendment verdict.
