DHAKA: The opposition leader of the parliament and lawmaker of Mymensingh-4 constituency Rowshan Ershad said that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the greatest Bengali of all time, was an iconic symbol of national unity, inspiration and liberty. 

She made the remarks in a statement marking the National Mourning Day that falls on Aug 15, said a press release signed by her public relations officer Mamun Hossain on Monday afternoon (Aug 14).

Rowshan Ershad said the contribution of Bangabandhu to our national history is enormous. He was the visionary of Bengali nation. The nation got inspiration to claim their rights and finally snatched independence through liberation war under his rigid leadership. The nation will always remember its greatest hero.

In the message marking the 42nd death anniversary of Bangabandhu, Rowshan Ershad said not only the founding father and leader of this country was murdered on Aug 15, rather it was an attempt to murder the dream of building a non-communal Bangladesh in the spirit of liberation war.
