AL role model to cling to power with gun force: Fakhrul

KHULNA: BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Wednesday (July 19) commented that the Awami League is the role model to cling to power through using gun force.

Speaking at a rally at a hotel in Khulna city, he said that the incumbent government came to the power again through a ‘voter-less farcical election’ and it is now considering guns as their main source of power instead of people. It (government) survived in the power immorally by cheating with the people, he added.

The BNP spokesperson said that the Awami League government is hatching conspiracy to hold another fabricated elections to cling to the power.

“We have been saying for an election-time supportive government. The next elections won’t be free and fair without an election-time neutral government,” he said.

Mirza Fakhrul came down heavily on the government for the price hike of essential commodities.

He also talked about abduction of noted writer and columnist Farhad Mazhar, saying that the government is now hatching conspiracy to file false and fabricated case against him.

Khulna district BNP president Advocate SM Shafiqul Islam chaired the rally, while Khulna city unit president Nazrul Islam Manzu and the party’s central leader Azizul Bari Helal also spoke it, among others.
