Quader hints at reshuffle in Cabinet again

DHAKA: Awami League general secretary and road transport and bridges minister Obaidul Quader has hinted at slide reshuffle in the Sheikh Hasina’s cabinet.

He dropped the hint while talking to journalists at Bridges Bhaban in city’s Banani on Tuesday (July 18) after a meeting with a delegation team of Australia.

The minister, however, did not confirm the reshuffle in the cabinet, saying that it is only jurisdiction of the prime minister. “I don’t talk anything in this regard. But a reshuffle in the Cabinet may happen anytime,” he said.

Obaidul Quader did not specify the exact date, saying that the PM knows the matter properly.

He, however, rejected the news of creating a post of deputy prime minister. Any such post won’t be created, he cleared.

After the Awami League came to power again following the 2014 elections, the Cabinet was reshuffled in July in 2016. The then general secretary of the ruling party Syed Ashraful Islam's portfolio was changed to public administration ministry from local government ministry.

Home minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal and science and technology minister Yeafesh Osman were promoted to ministers from state ministers.

Nurul Islam BSc was included in the Cabinet as minister, while Tarana Halim and Nuruzzaman Ahmed were appointed as state ministers.
