DHAKA: The High Court has stayed the suspension order of Sonargaon upazila chairman Azharul Islam Mannan for six months and cleared the way for his recommence to duty. 

An HC bench comprising Justices Naima Haydar and Abu Taher Mohammad Saifur Rahman passed the order on Monday (July 17) after hearing a writ against the suspension order issued by local government. 

Earlier on July 5, the BNP-backed chairman of Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj Azharul Islam Mannan has been suspended for third time. 

The local government ministry suspended the chairman following the court accepted charge-sheet against the BNP leader in explosive case.   

Azharul Islam Mannan is a member of BNP’s central executive committee and general secretary of Sonargaon upazila BNP.
