SHERPUR: Police arrested five people including a local leader of Jubo League, the youth front of ruling party, in Nalitabari upazila for violating a class-IX schoolgirl.

Police sources and locals said that one Antor Hossain, 19, and Rana Mia, 19, tried to molest the girl while she was returning home from a coaching center in Chit Para area of Nalitabari municipality town, around 8 pm Sunday (May 21).

Hearing screaming, locals rushed to the scene and rescued the girl. They caught Antor and Rana red-handed and handed over them to the Kakorkandi union parishad office.

Being informed, Sharifuzzaman Setu, secretary general of Nalitabari upazila town unit of Jubo League, released Antor and Rana, in assistance with one Mozaharul Haque and Mofazzal Hossain from the union parishad office.

On Monday (May 22), father of the victim filed a case accusing five people in connection with the incident. 

Nalitabari police station sub-inspector (SI) Nazrul Islam told Banglanews that police arrested the five accused in the case.
