Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has invited US President Donald Trump to visit Bangladesh.

The US President, however, has shown positive attitude in responding to Sheikh Hasina’s invitation.

Sheikh Hasina and Donald Trump met at the ‘Arab Islamic American Summit’ held in Riyadh of Saudi Arabia on Sunday (May 21). Prior to beginning of the summit, they exchanged greetings with each other.

“During their meeting, Bangladesh Prime Minister invited the US President to visit Bangladesh. Donald Trump responded positively,” said foreign secretary Shahidul Haque.

The foreign secretary spoke at a press briefing on Sunday night (May 21) after the summit.  

Sheikh Hasina joined the ‘Arab Islamic American Summit’ together with Trump and leaders from the Muslim countries.  

Shahidul Haque said that the PM held meetings with leaders of several countries on the sidelines of the summit. She held a long-time meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak on the sideline and discussed bilateral issues between Bangladesh and Malaysia.  

Sheikh Hasina left Dhaka for Saudi Arabia on Saturday (May 20) to join the ‘Arab Islamic American Summit’. She will return to the country on Tuesday (May 23).

The PM was invited to attend the summit by Saudi King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.
