BCL attacks Chhatra Dal meeting in Lakshmipur, 6 injured

DHAKA: A meeting of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, the student wing of the BNP, has came under attack allegedly by the activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League, the student wing of the ruling Awami League, in Lakshmipur.

The incident took place at residence of former BNP MP Ashraf Uddin Nizan at Kamalnagar upazila in the district on Saturday noon (May 20).

At least 6 people of both the organizations, including Lakshmipur district Chhatra Dal president Harunur Rashid, were injured in the attack. They were taken to different local hospitals.

Later, police took the situation under control.

Chhatra Dal leaders alleged that they joined a meeting at the residence of former MP Ashraf Uddin Nizan. But they could not hold it due to attack of the BCL men.

On the other hand, BCL leaders said that the incident may be occurred due to internal feud of the Chharta Dal. They, however, accused the leaders of Chhatra Dal of hatching conspiracy to foil a meeting of the BCL scheduled to be held on Sunday (May 21).
