BNP smells rats at move for EVM system

DHAKA: BNP standing member Barrister Moudud Ahmed has said that the government is hatching conspiracy to introduce the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in the next Parliamentary polls in a bid to implement its ill motive.

The BNP senior leader said this while speaking at a roundtable discussion at the Dhaka Reporters’ Unity on Saturday (May 20).

Barrister Moudud, also a former law minister of the BNP government, said that the people of the country have not achieved maturity till now for such polls under EVM system.

“Those who are thinking to introduce the EVM system, they have ill motive. They want to keep the people far from the elections. We don’t want the next polls under EVM system. The polls will be held under transparent ballot system,” he said.

He, however, said that the BNP won’t take part any elections under partisan government.

The BNP leader also protested and condemned the raid in BNP chairperson’s Gulshan office.

The party’s senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed also spoke at the function.
