COMILLA: Police arrested Comilla City Corporation (CCC) councilor Ekram Hossain Babu in a case filed for allegedly detaining someone and forcing to sign a blank cheque.

Ekram, councilor for ward-8 and a resident of Thakur Para area, has been detained from his home around 11:30 pm Thursday.

It has been informed that Ekram is involved with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami politics.

Abdus Salam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Kotwali Police station, told Banglanews that there has been allegation that Ekram forcefully took a man in his home and signed him in blank stamp and check. The stamp and check were also recovered from Ekram’s home. 

A case has been filed in this connection. Moreover, Ekram is accused in a total of 15 cases including special power acts, explosives acts, anti-terrorism acts, and women and child repression act, OC added.
