DHAKA (SAVAR): Police recovered the bodies of three people including two schools students from separate areas of Savar upazila in Dhaka on Wednesday evening (Sep 19).

Bodies of two students, wearing school uniform, were recovered from Turag River in Ashulia bazaar area while a housewife in Savar was beaten to death by her husband’s family members over dowry. 

Quoting locals, Ashulia police station officer-in-charge (OC) Rezaul Huq told Banglanews that locals saw two school students sitting near Ashulia bridge and crying for some reason in the afternoon. Later in the evening, brick field workers recovered their bodies from Turag River. 

The identities of the deceased students, aged around 14, could not be known yet. It is believed that they might have committed suicide by jumping in the river, the OC added.

On the other hand, a housewife by the name Fulmoti Akhter, 18, was allegedly beaten to death by her in-laws after she failed to give Tk 1 lakh dowry to her husband in Baherchar area under Vakurta union of Savar. 

On information, Savar model thana police recovered her body and sent it to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital in Dhaka for autopsy. The family members of Fulmoti’s husband are absconding following the incident.

Savar Model Police station officer-in-charge (OC) Abdul Awal told Banglanews that a case was filed over the incident and legal action will be taken after investigation.
