DHAKA: Customs officials again seized 107-kg of Khat, a "new psychoactive substance (NPS)", at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Tuesday noon (Sep 18).

A team of Dhaka Customs House with help of National Security Intelligence (NSI) officials seized the drug from six cartons in foreign post office area of the airport.

Additional Director (Detective) of Narcotics Control Department Nazrul Islam Sikder told Banglanews that the drug, weighing about 107.7 kg, was being imported in the country as green tea by an Ethiopian company ‘Kajali Jamir Enterprise’. 

The drug consignment, registered to a company in Dhaka’s  Naya Paltan area, landed at Dhaka airport by a Jet Airways plane around 1:10pm. The matter is being investigated, he added.
