BENAPOLE (JESSORE): Customs officials detained a man carrying 5 gold bars, weighing about 100 grams each in his rectum, at Benapole check post on Tuesday (September 18).
The detainee was identified as Masudur Rahman Paban, son of Abdul Halim, from Chanderchar village of Daudkandi Upazila of Cumilla district.
On suspicion, a team of customs officials interrogated Paban. He refused carrying gold bars. Upon having a search, gold bars were found inside his undergarments, according to customs sources.
Assistant director of Benapole check post Nipun Chakma told Banglanews: “The detainee will be sent to Benapole Port Police Station after filing a case under gold smuggling act.”
