COX’S BAZAR: Three persons were killed as an easy bike got hit by a covered van in Chakaria upazila of the district on Wednesday (September 12).

The accident happened at Harbang Inani Resort area on Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway around 11:30 am.  

The deceased are identified as-Abu Taher, 50, also acting president of Awami League Harbang-4 ward, a resident of Zamidarpara, and Taj Uddin, 32, son of Abdus Sattar of Muslim Para.

Informed by eyewitnesses, a Cox's Bazar-bound covered van, bearing a sticker (Dhaka Metro-M-11-4414), rammed into a Chakaria-bound easy bike, pushing easy bike’s passengers over. As a result, 2 of them died on the spot.

One of the injured succumbed to his injuries at Upazila Health Complex, according to doctor Shuvan De.

Chakaria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC-Investigation) Yasin Arafat told Banglanews: “Dead bodies were kept in Baniarchara Highway police outpost.”
