Zia family linked to Aug 21 grenade attack: PM Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina speaking at the function

DHAKA:  Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said she has no doubt that Zia family was involved’ in the grenade attack on August 21 that led to the death of 24 people in an anti-terrorism program held on Bangabandhu Avenue 14 years ago.

The premier was addressing commemoration program after placing wreaths at the attack site organized at Awami League’s central office Tuesday (August 21).

“The BNP-Jamaat alliance carried out the grenade attack on August 21 in 2004 to wipe out Awami League completely. It was a continuation of the massacre of August 15 in 1975 linked to the assassination of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman,” she said.

“There is no doubt that the BNP-Jamaat alliance, being in power, orchestrated such an incident in Bangladesh.”

BNP, as emerged through murder and conspiracy, cannot do anything for the betterment of the country, added Sheikh Hasina.
