GAZIPUR: Two teenage girls were killed and three others injured as a covered van rammed a rickshaw-van in Konabari Natunbazar area of Gazipur City Corporation on Monday noon (August 20).

The deceased were identified as Sadia Naznin Mim, 15, daughter of one Selim Rana of Rakhaliachala area in Kaliakair upazila of Gazipur and their domestic help Sanzida, 12. 

According to local and police sources, two speedy covered van were competing each other on Dhaka-Tangail highway. The accident happened at 1:15pm as one of the covered van hit the rickshaw-van that was carrying 5 people. Two people died on the spot while three others sustained injuries. 

Salna highway police station officer-in-charge (OC) Bashu Dev Sinha told Banglanews that the bodies were recovered and legal procedures is underway.
