2 burnt to death as Meghna Oil Depot catches fire in Khulna

KHULNA: At least two persons were burnt to death and nine others suffered burn injuries as a fire broke out at Meghna Oil Depot in city’s Khalishpur area on Monday (August 20).

The fire broke out around 10:45 am. Five units of Fire Service, after 1 hour of frantic effort, were able extinguish the fire around 11:30 am.

Out of 2 deceased, bodies of Raju, and Kamal are kept in Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) morgue, Sordar Mosharaf Hossen, officer-in-charge of Khalishpur police station, told Banglannews.

“Fire erupted while transferring diesel and octane from depot to vehicles,” said Enam Munshi, former general secretary of the Tank Lorry Workers’ Union, to Banglanews.
