DHAKA: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Javed Patwari asked Muslim devotees not to bring anything other than Janamaz (prayer rug) at the main Eid-ul-Fitr jamaat scheduled to be held at Jatiya Eidgah on August 22.

However, if it rains, devotees can also bring umbrellas, the IGP added.

IGP Javed Patwari said it to reporters after inspecting security conditions of Jatiya Eidgah on Sunday (August 19).

Some 3-4 layers of security measures have been taken inside and outside of the Jatiya Eidgah. Apart from it, Special Branch (SB) of police, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) members, and other detective members in uniform and in plain clothes will be deployed in and around the ground.

Moreover, 85 closed-circuit (CC) cameras have been installed at every point of Jatiya Eidgah.  Security door has been set up at archway of the prayer ground. Special arrangements for VIP, including the President, will be made.
