No guarantee of uninterrupted power supply in Eid State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid

DHAKA:  State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid said there is no guarantee of uninterrupted power supply during Eid-ul-Azha.

Nasrul Hamid, while speaking to Banglanews at his office at the secretariat on Sunday (August 19), said, “We are trying our best to provide load-shedding-free electricity.”

But it is not possible to supply electricity to the northern region, even though there is surplus electricity on the other part of Yamuna River. Therefore, we can not give the guarantee of full load-shedding-free electricity supply.”

In response to a question, he said, “Decision has been made to keep Barapukuria coal-based power-plant in motion, as it was closed down due to lack of coal. The electricity supply could be at a tolerable stage, if power-plant was set in motion all the time.”
