 Movement for safe roads: 25 students get bail The arrested students inside the prison van

DHAKA: Two Dhaka Courts granted bail to 16 of out 22 students of different private universities in two cases filed for hampering government work, vandalism, assault on police, during students’ movement for safe roads.

Besides, 9 students, who were accused in 3 cases filed for attacking on police and office of Awami League’s president, were also granted bail.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Saifuzzaman Hero, Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka AKM Main Uddin Siddiqi, and Metropolitan Magistrate of Dhaka Sarafuzzaman Ansari passed the orders on Sunday (August 19).

Of the 25 students, 10 were accused in a case filed with Badda police Station and six others were accused in a case filed with Vatara Police Station. The rest were accused in 3 cases filed with Dhanmondi Police Station.

Advocate Kabir Hossain, Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua, Akhtar Hossain Jewel and some others lawyers, moved for the students.

The students who are granted bail are: Nur Mohammad, Zahidul Haque, Hasan, Redwan Ahmed, Tariqul Islam, AHM Khalid Reza alias Tanmoy, Reza Rifat Akhlak, Rashedul Islam, Mushfiqur Rahman, Iftekhar Ahmed, Masad Mortonza Bin Ahad, Sakhawat Hossain Nijhum, Sifat Shahriar, Azizul Karim Antar, Mehdi Hasan and Fayez Ahmed Adnan.

Students accused in cases filed with Dhanmondi Police Station are as follows: Sohad Khan, Masricul Islam, Tamal Samad, Mahmudur Rahman, Omar Siam, Mahbubur Rahman, Iqbal Hossain, Naimur Rahman and Minhajul Islam.

Police detained the students from different private university campuses on August 6.
