JHENAIDAH: A Bangladesh army member was hacked to death by unknown miscreants in Bongkira village under Jhenaidah sadar upazila Saturday (August 18) night.

The deceased, Saiful Islam Saif, 30, was posted at the army medical unit of Tangail’s Ghatail Cantonment. 

Saif, accompanying his father-in-law Shamsul Islam and younger brother Monirul Islam, was on way to his Bongkira village residence from Dosmail Bazar on a motorcycle at the night, Jhenaidah Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Emdadul Huq Sheikh told Banglanews.  

A group of some 8-10 miscreants obstructed them at the road and started to stab Saif with sharp weapons while he was trying to flee.

On information, police rushed to the spot and rescued Saif.

He was taken to Jhenaidah Sadar Hospital where the on-duty physician pronounced him dead, added the OC.
