DHAKA: A road worker died after being crushed by a microbus in the capital’s Tejgaon area at early hours of Saturday (August 18).

The deceased, Shafiqul Islam, 40, was hailed from Nalitabari upazila of Sherpur.

Ismail Hossain, 40, another worker, sustained injuries.

The workers were mending a road divider in Tejgaon, at the night. An overspeed microbus crushed them, leaving the duo critically injured around 3:30am, Tejgaon Police Station Assistant Sub-Inspector (SI) Md Ali told Banglanews.

They were whisked-off to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where the on-duty physician pronounced Shafiqul dead.

The microbus was seized while the driver managed to flee away, added the SI.
