COX’S BAZAR: A student of BRAC University (BRACU) drowned while taking sea-bath with friends in Laboni Point of Bay near Cox’s Bazar Beach Saturday (August 18).

The deceased was identified as Iftekharul Alam Abid, 25, hailed from Dhulsarda area of Feni district. 

“Abid and his friends went touring Cox’s Bazar. He, accompanying his friends, was taking bath on Laboni Point around 7am. At one stage, Abid drowned,” Cox’s Bazar Tourist Police Sub-Inspector (SI) Mahmudul Alam told Banglanews.

Tourist polices and Sea Safe Lifeguard members rescued him and took to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where the on-duty physicians pronounced him dead, added the SI.

The body was kept at the hospital morgue, said Cox’s Bazar Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Farid Uddin.
