HABIGANJ: Two female tea garden workers died after being buried alive as soil chunks fell on them while they were cutting a hill in Chaklapunji Tea Garden area under Chunarughat of Habiganj Wednesday (August 15).    

The deceased were identified as Andini Maal, 22, and Bishka Santal, 25.

Four others were injured in the same incident taken place around 12pm.

They were rescued from the spot, by the locals.

Chunarughat Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Moin Uddin Iqbal confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

The UNO and Chunarughat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) KM Azmiruzzaman visited the spot.

The upazila administration gave Tk15,000 to each of the deceased’s families, as financial aid.
