3 killed as bus ploughs into shop in Rajshahi People gather on the spot

RAJSHAHI: Three persons including two motorcyclists were killed as a bus ploughed into a roadside shop in Nowdapara area of Rajshahi city Wednesday (August 15).

The deceased were identified as Tinku, 30, Anika, 13, and Sabuj, 35, residents of Match factory area under Shah Makhdum thana.

The accident happened around 12:15pm.

Local sources said that a Naogaon-bound bus of Aero Bengal transport service lost control and rammed a motorcycle to enter into Jahangir Traders besides the road.  

Moreover, several others were reportedly injured. Two of them are—Mitu, 13, and Mamun, 25.

They were rescued and admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).

Rajshahi Metropolitan Police (RMP) Spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner (Sadar) Iftekhayer Alam confirmed the matter to Banglanews.

The bodies were taken to the police custody, he said.

Infuriated locals showed agitation at Aam Chattar area and reportedly vandalized several vehicles, over the accident.

Bus services on Rajshahi-Naogaon route have been suspended.
