RAJBARI: A district court has sentenced life term imprisonment to a man and death penalty to his son for killing one Thandu Sheikh in Rajbari.

Judge of Rajbari District and Sessions Judge’s court Md. Aminul Huq passed the order Tuesday (August 14).

The convicts are- Minazuddin, 63 and his son Rabiul Islam, 30, hailing from Bethulia village of Rajbari sadar upazila.

Court additional public prosecutor (APP) Khondokar Habibur Rahman Bacchu told Banglanews that the convicts hacked Thandu Sheikh over a dispute on May 13 in 2013. Later victim’s elder brother Liton Sheikh filed a murder case with Rajbari sadar police station accusing six people.

The court acquitted four accused in the case as the prosecution failed to produce enough evidence against them, the APP added.
