DHAKA:  The Ministry of Information is set to form a specialized unit to detect the objectionable posts uploaded on various social networking sites including Facebook.

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) will be forwarded the offensive items and recommended for taking proper actions against the content makers. 

State Minister for Information Ministry Tarana Halim disclosed the announcement, while briefing reporters at the secretariat Tuesday (August 14).  

“We are about to form a small unit at information ministry”

“We will analyze the social media contents there so that we can analyze rumor, hate campaign and comments provoking and humiliating women; to inform BTRC that those contents aren’t true but baseless, demeaning and humiliating to women,” she said.      

“Its information ministry’s task to analyze the contents at least and inform BTRC of it as BTRC can’t do it all the time,” added Tarana.
