DHAKA: No specific threats have been surfaced yet for the countrywide programs of National Mourning Day to be observed on August 15 (Wednesday), marking the day of assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzman Mia made the remark while talking to the reporters after inspecting security measures taken at Dhanmondi-32 area Tuesday (August 14).
In context of happenings of the preceding years, visible and invisible tougher security layers have been ensured across the capital city, he said.
“We aren’t ruling any possibilities out though no specific threats have been found revolving August 15”
“A profit-seeking quarter is active since 1971. We have foiled evil attempts of the quarter in pasts too,” added Asaduzzman Khan.
However, ruling Awami League and its associate bodies have taken a wide array of programs, to observe the death anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
