DHAKA: Mentioning that despite several drives conducted by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) about irregularities in Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA), the commission chairman Iqbal Mahmood said there is no end to the complaints against the transport authority officials.
The chairman also said that ACC is closely monitoring the irregularities against BRTA officials.
Iqbal Mahmood made the remarks to reporters in a view exchange meeting on ‘Role of FM radio in preventing corruption and developing good practice’ in commission headquarters on Monday (August 13).
He said “ACC conducted the most drives against irregularities of BRTA. Several officers have been sued and arrested. Yet there is no end to complaint s about them. The commission is closely monitoring their activities.”
The ACC chairperson said, “Legal action will be taken if anyone with the commission is found violating laws. None will be spared in such cases.”
Complainants often get wrong impression about ACC because in many cases we can not take action about their complaints due to lack of jurisdiction, he added.
