DHAKA: Saudi Arabia has given Bangladesh 200 tons of dates as gifts.

Sayed Al-Gatani, deputy counselor of the Saudi Embassy in Bangladesh, handed over the gift to Disaster Management and Relief Secretary Shah Kamal at the Secretariat on Sunday (August 12).

Saudi Arabia gifts dates to Bangladesh every year before Ramadan.

“Contribution is delayed this year due to production and packaging process. However, dates will arrive before Ramadan,” deputy councilor said.

Last year, Saudi Arabia gave 50 tons of dates.

The dates will be distributed to poor people living in upazilas, Ministry said.
