DHAKA: Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina donated Tk 20 lakh to each of the families of two victims of Sunday’s tragic accident on Airport Road.

Besides, both the families were given savings certificates.

The premier handed over the donations after expressing sympathy to the bereaved families of the victims-- Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim, at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Thursday (August 2).  

Diya Khanam Mim, 15, and Abdul Karim, 16, two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College were killed as two buses of Jabal-e-Noor Paribahan mow them down in an unnatural race of overtaking. Several other students were reported injured.

The fatal accident sparked huge outcry that led to series of protests questioning the government’s feeble road safety management.
