DHAKA: Vehicular movement resumed as police removed the protesting students, who blocked the Airport road and rail tracts in Shaora area over the death of two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin College in Sunday’s road accident.

Earlier in the morning, protesting students blocked the airport road and blocked rail tracks later at noon. Railway authorities suspended operations due to security reasons. The road block caused huge traffic congestion inside the capital where thousands of commuters were stranded on the road. 

Cantonment rail station master Mozammel Hossain said rail communication resumed after 3:30pm. 

Deputy Commissioner (DC, traffic) Prabir Kumar Roy said the protesting students of of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin College have been removed from the street in the afternoon to clear the Airport Road. Vehicular movement started to became normal after 4:00pm.

Earlier on Sunday, two students of Shaheed Ramiz Uddin Cantonment College were killed as a speedy bus hit them on Airport Road of the capital city.

The deceased were identified as Abdul Karim, 16 and Diya, 15. Twelve others were injured in the accident.
