2 indigenous girls drown in Rangamati

RANGAMATI: Two indigenous children drowned in Kachalong River near Shilchhari village under Bagaichhari upazila of Rangamati district on Monday afternoon (July 23).

The deceased were identified as Elina Chakma, 7, daughter of one Sujoy Chakma and Joya Chakma, 8, daughter of Milton Chakma, both from Shilchhari village. They were first grade students of Kachuchhari Govt. Primary school.

Locals said both of them were washed away while taking bath in Kachalong River. Later their unconscious bodies were recovered from the river and taken to Baghaichhari upazila health complex where on-duty physician declared them dead. 

Confirming the matter to Banglanews, Baghaichhari upazila health complex physician Rajib Barua said the bodies were handed over to family without performing autopsy.
