2 teenage girls found hanging in Moulvibazar

MOULVIBAZAR: Police recovered the hanging bodies of two teenage girls from the same room of a house at Debarbondh village in Rajnagar upazila of Moulvibazar on Monday afternoon (July 23).

The deceased were identified as Rupoma Biswas, 14, daughter of one late Hirendra Biswas of the village and her cousin sister Monika Biswas, 16, daughter of Sunil Biswas from the same house. 

Rupoma was a class nine student of Panchgaon High school while Monika studied till class ten.

According to police and local sources, Monika’s younger sister Kanika Biswas discovered the bodies hanging from the ceiling at noon and other family members rushed to the scene hearing Kanika’s screaming. On information, police recovered the bodies. 

Rajnagar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Shyamal Banik told Banglanews that initially it is being suspected as double suicide. The bodies were sent to Moulvibazar general hospital for autopsy. The cause of death will be known from the report. An unnatural death (UD) case has been lodged over the incident.
