DHAKA: A writ petition was filed with the High Court on Monday (July 23) challenging the legality of the ‘obstruction’ Imran H Sarker faced reportedly while intending to leave the country for United States.

The writ also sought necessary order clearing ways for the journey of the Ganajagaran Mancha spokesperson.

An HC bench of Justice Tariq Ul Hakim and Justice Md Suhrawardy might hold the hearing upon the petition.

Barrister M Amir Ul Islam might move for the petitioner, said sources.

As per the news reports and a press release issued by the Ganajagaran Mancha, Dr Imran H Sarker was obstructed to fly abroad.

Imran returned from the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after being resisted by the administration while he was intended to leave for United States on Friday (July 20), said the release.

He had a visit to United States, at the invitation of the US government. He was sent back from the plane he boarded after completing all necessary procedures including immigration at the airport, the press release said further.
