3 quota reform leaders come under attack again

DHAKA UNIVERSITY: Three leaders of the quota reform movement were allegedly attacked by members of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) just outside of the campus in Dhaka on Sunday afternoon (July 22).

Six BCL leaders and activists allegedly carried out the attack around 5:00pm at Bata Signal intersection on elephant road.

The joint-conveners of the movement are- Sohrab Hossain, Ratul Sarkar and Niazi.

According to the victims and witnesses, the quota leaders were followed by several BCL men riding 2 motorbikes after they hired a CNG-driven auto-rickshaw and moved out from a quota rally being held at Raju sculpture memorial on campus. The motorbikes intercepted the CNG at Bata signal intersection while BCL men beat up the quota leaders on the street.

When asked about it, BCL DU unit organizing secretary Saidur Rahman Ujjal denied it saying that he had an argument with an auto-rickshaw driver at Bata signal intersection but did not talk to the three people who were inside the vehicle.

When asked about a video clip of the attack, he said I haven’t seen any video yet.
