Mahmudur comes under ‘BCL’ attack in Kushtia Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman leaving court amid attack

KUSHTIA: Amar Desh acting editor Mahmudur Rahman sustained injuries as members of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) allegedly attacked him in a court premise in the district on Sunday (July 22).

Mahmudur was attacked after Kushtia Senior Judicial Magistrate MM Morshed had granted him permanent bail in the case.

Over 100 BCL leaders and activists first confined Mahmudur inside the court for 4 four hours and then assaulted him on his way out. Mahumudur came out of the court around 4:00pm.

Brick chips were hurled targeting his car. Mahmudur Rahman was hit on the head by a brick chip and was seen bleeding all over his shirt while leaving the court premises.

Earlier on December 1 last year, Mahmudur allegedly made derogatory comments about Bangabandhu and Hasina while addressing a seminar organised by Bangladesh Democratic Council at the National Press Club in Dhaka. Later several cases were filed against him.

On December 10 in 2017, Kushtia district BCL president Yasir Arafat filed the case against Mahmudur Rahman.
