GAZIPUR: Two policemen beat up a senior Sonali Bank official and broke his finger in Sataish area of Tongi in Gazipur on Sunday morning (July 22).

Following the incident, both the policemen were withdrawn to Gazipur police line.

The injured, identified as Md Amir Hossain, 45, resident of Bankpara area of Sataish, is a senior officer of Saonali Bank Jatiya University branch in Gazipur Boardbazar. 

Eyewitnesses said Amir Hoosain was heading for work by a rickshaw while a police constable and sergeant stopped the rickshaw on the road. They argued over the matter and at one point both cops verbally and physically attacked him. Amir Hossain sustained injuries in one of his finger.

Later locals protested the attack and besieged the cops. On information, Tongi thana police and other traffic policemen rescued them. Besides, the injured bank official was taken to Tongi government hospital for treatment.
