6 kids drown in 3 districts

DHAKA: Six children drowned in separate ponds of Chandpur, Natore, and Jamalpur districts on Thursday noon (July 19).

In Haziganj upazila of Chandpur, two four-year-old brothers drowned in a pond while playing near house at Enayetpur village. 

They were identified as Md. Shaurav, son of Md. Alam Hossain and Md. Arafat Hossain, son of Md. Shah Alam. The kids were cousins in relation. 

In Natore sadar upazila, two minor sisters drowned while taking bath in a pond at Chwak Tebaria village. 

They were identified as Shimla, 6 and Sadia, 10, daughter of one Hanif Sheikh of Char Gobindapur village of Kumarkhali upazila of Kushtia.

Natore sadar police station officer-in-charge (OC) Kazi Jalaluddin Ahmed told Banglanews that the kids came to visit their aunt’s house in Natore with parents. Both of them drowned in a pond while taking a dip at noon.

In Jamalpur, twin sisters drowned in a pond of Baksiganj Upazila of the district.

The victims were identified as Moni, and Mukta, daughters of Juadder, hailed from Morarpara village under Bogarchar union of the upazila.

Informed by locals, 2-year-old twin girls drowned in the backyard pond after slipping out of the bank, unknown to family members. Later, after a long search, bodies surfaced, and were recovered.

Aslam Hossen, officer-in-charge of Baksiganj Police station confirmed the matter to Banglanews.
