COX’S BAZAR: Two suspected yaba traders were killed in a reported shootout with the members of law enforcement agencies in Himchori of Cox’s Bazar early Thursday (July 19).

One of the deceased was identified as Enamul Haque, as per the NID card recovered from him.

Ammunitions including a one-shooter gun, a foreign revolver and 60,000 yaba pills including the car carrying the duo were seized.

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) and Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) jointly installed a check post in Himchori, at early hours in the morning, Cox’s Bazar Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Afrazul Haque Tutul told Banglanews.

A white car denied signal from the law enforcers, while it was on its way passing Marine Drive Road.

Unidentified persons on board the car opened fire at the law enforcers, as the car was crossing the check post.

Two persons sustained injuries as the law enforcers fired back, in retaliation.

They were whisked-off to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital where the physician pronounced them dead, ASP Afrazul Haque Tutul said further.

The bodies of the deceased were kept at the hospital morgue, he added.
