A Bangladeshi national shot and killed during a robbery at Aunt Molly’s Food Store in Florida of US on Tuesday (July 17).

The deceased, identified as Ayub Ali, 61, a store clerk of North Lauderdale, was a father of four children. 

Police are investigating the fatal shooting. According to the Broward Sheriff’s Office, Ayub was shot during a robbery at Aunt Molly’s Food Store, near Southwest 17th Street and South State Road Seven.

Tamarac Fire Rescue responded to the scene, just before 1 p.m., Tuesday, and transported Ali to Broward Health Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Masud Sadek, a friend of the victim said, “He was a very, very nice person. He was very friendly with the customers. Everybody likes him in the community.”

Friends of Ali said he was part of a very religious Bangladeshi family and he leaves behind four children, including one who survived the Marjory Stonemen Douglas High School shooting.
