DHAKA: A man was killed after being hit by a speedy bus at Shahbagh intersection area of Dhaka on Wednesday (July 18).

The deceased was identified as Omar Faruk, 50, son of late Abdus Samad of Matlan upazila of Chandpur. He was a private car driver of a BIRDEM hospital eye doctor.

Victim’s relative Shopna Begum told Banglanews Faruk came back to Dhaka from his village home on Tuesday after burying his recently demised father. Today he was waiting at the

Shabagh bus stop to receive his wife who was coming to BIRDEM hospital for treatment. At one point, a city bus ran him over leaving him critically injured. Doctor pronounced him dead when taken to DMCH. 

Shahbagh police station sub-inspector (SI) Md Sahed said Faruk was hit a Meskat paribahan bus and the bus driver was detained following the incident. The body was kept in DMCH hospital morgue.
