DHAKA: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) detained a young man over the alleged killing of a 16-year-old girl in a residential hotel in Moghbazar of the capital city.

RAB-3 members carried out a drive in Paikpara of Mirpur and nabbed Sumon Tuesday night (July 17).

Details will be informed at a press briefing at the RAB Media Centre in Karwanbazar later, RAB Legal & Media Wing Senior Assistant Director ASP Mizanur Rahman told Banglanews.

On Monday evening (July 16), police recovered the girl’s body from ‘Baikali’ residential hotel in Moghbazar. She was identified as Bristy.

Sumon-Bristy duo rented the room-407 of the hotel on the same day, registering themselves as husband-wife. 

In the evening, Sumon told the hotel authority that his wife has committed suicide.

On information, police recovered the body. Sumon went into hiding soon after the incident.
