‘Robber’ killed in Jhenaidah ‘shootout’

JHENAIDAH: A suspected robber was killed in a reported shootout with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in Harinakundu upazila of Jhenaidah Tuesday night (July 17).

The deceased was identified as Amirul Islam Pacha, 43.

Some arms including a one-shooter gun, two rounds of bullet and some cash money were recovered from the spot.
 
A drive was carried out in Vaturia village under Harinakundu upazila around 11:15pm on information that a gang of robbers were attempting to commit robbery there, RAB-6 Acting Commander ASP Golam Morshed told Banglanews.
 
Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the robbers opened fire.

Amirul sustained bullet injuries as RAB retaliated by firing back.

He was rescued and taken to the upazila health complex where the physician pronounced him dead.
 
Three RAB members were injured in the incident. They were given primary treatment, said ASP Golam Morshed.
