2 get life for killing teacher in C’nawabganj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ: A district court on Monday (July 16) sentenced life term imprisonment to two people for killing a retired teacher, Lutfur Rahman, in Chapai Nawabganj. 

Additional District and Sessions Judge Shawkat Ali passed the order with Tk 50,000 fine for each convict, in default, six more months of jail term. 

The court also acquitted five other accused in the case as the prosecution failed to produce enough evidence against them.

The convicts are- Bogdadi Ali, 46, son of Golam Mohammad of Chakbaharam village in Chapai Nawabganj sadar upazila and Md Saddam, son of Md Manim. They were present in court during the verdict delivery. 

According to case statement, on August 25 in 2012, Lutfur Rahman, a former teacher of Chunakhali primary school, was hacked to to death following a heated argument with the convicts. Later victim’s wife Mariam Begum filed a murder case accusing seven people.
