DHAKA: Legal notice has been served to vice chancellor, proctor, and registrar of Dhaka University asking what action was taken against those who attacked students during quota reform movement on June 31, July 1.
According to the notice, legal action will be taken against the defendants if they fail to reply within 24 hours after receiving the notice.
A total of 13 Supreme Court lawyers including Hasnat Qayyum and Barrister Jyotirmoy Barua sent the notice on Sunday (July 15) on behalf of four leaders of quota reform movement, including Faruk Hossain and Moshiur Rahman.
A press conference was held for quota reform demonstration on DU premises on June 30. Activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) allegedly launched an attack in presence of teachers. However, no action was taken against attackers as per DU ordinance 1973. For this reason, this notice was issued, the notice reads.
